Partial Funnel Tracking
& Nudge Campaigns:
No Lead Left Behind

TextingOnly captures every interaction — including incomplete ones. A contact who opts in but answers zero questions, answers 3 of 5 questions, or navigates halfway through an ITR flow is still a captured, identified contact. Here’s how to see partial engagement data and turn it into pipeline with nudge campaigns.

Partial Funnels Nudge Campaigns Re-engagement Reporting
What Partial Means Any contact who opted in but didn’t reach the Final Message. They started the journey. Their phone number, consent, geo data, and all answers to date are captured — even if they stopped after one reply.
Why It Matters A web form abandonment captures nothing. A partial OTTO interaction captures a carrier-verified phone number, timestamp, geo data, and however many answers the contact provided before stopping.
The Nudge Partial contacts can be exported as a segment and re-engaged with a targeted outbound SMS — “Still interested? Reply YES.” OTTO handles every reply automatically.

The partial funnel is where most platforms lose data and most businesses lose leads. TextingOnly captures the entire journey — not just the completions. Understanding partial engagement data is the difference between a lead capture system and a lead recovery system.

Engagement Stages in TextingOnly

📥
Started

Contact tapped the SmartLink and sent the opt-in text — triggering phone capture, consent logging, geo data, and entry point attribution. OTTO sent the first question. Contact did not reply. The floor: carrier-verified phone + consent.

🔄
In Progress

Contact replied to at least one OTTO question or selected at least one ITR branch but did not reach the Final Message. Partial qualification data captured — whatever they answered before stopping is stored.

Completed

Contact reached the Final Message — received Prepare Caller, MMS coupon, or confirmation. Email lead alert fired to your team. Full qualification data captured. Highest-priority contacts.

🚫
Opted Out

Contact replied STOP or another opt-out keyword at any point. Automatically suppressed. Opt-out timestamp logged on the contact record. Cannot be re-engaged until they re-initiate contact.

Operational Gap Alerts — Are Your Leads Being Followed Up?

One of the most powerful uses of partial funnel tracking is the operational gap audit — a targeted outbound send to completed leads asking if they’ve been contacted. This catches leads that slipped through your team’s follow-up process:

📌 The operational gap nudge

Segment: Completed leads from the last 30 days that haven’t had a 1-to-1 conversation in the platform.

Message: “Hi [first_name] — just checking in. Did someone from [Business] reach out to you? Reply YES if you’ve connected, or NO if you haven’t heard from us yet.”

Reply automation: YES → adds to “contacted” list. NO → OTTO routes to a rep alert immediately. Both responses are handled by OTTO automatically.

This catches revenue leaks in real time — qualified leads that OTTO delivered but your team missed.

Viewing Partial Funnel Data

1
Go to Reports → Viewing Leads (Inbound SMS Funnels)
Or: Lead Collectors → click collector name → View Leads
2
Filter by Engagement Stage → select “In Progress” or “Started”
Each stage shows separately — you can view all partial contacts or filter to specific stages
3
Click any contact to see their specific interaction data
Shows which questions were answered, which ITR branches were selected, where the conversation stopped, and when
Export the segment as CSV for nudge campaign targeting
Structured export: phone number, name (if captured), partial answers, entry point, timestamp — ready to import as a campaign list

Building a Nudge Campaign

A nudge campaign is a targeted outbound send to partial contacts — asking a single question that re-initiates the conversation. Keep the message short, make the action clear, and attach a reply automation so OTTO handles every YES automatically.

Nudge Campaign Patterns by Stage

📥
Started — Re-initiate OTTO

“Hi — you started a conversation with us recently but we didn’t get a chance to connect. Still interested in [service]? Reply YES and we’ll pick up where we left off.”

YES reply → re-triggers the collector flow from the beginning via reply automation.

🔄
In Progress — Resume from partial data

“Hi [first_name] — you were asking about [service captured in Q1]. We have a spot available this week. Still interested? Reply YES.”

Dynamic keyword inserts the service they mentioned — message feels like a personal follow-up, not a bulk send.

Completed — Operational gap audit

“Hi [first_name] — just checking in. Did someone from [Business] reach out to you? Reply YES if connected, NO if not.”

NO reply → OTTO routes to rep alert. YES → adds to “contacted” confirmation list.

📅
Completed (aged) — Long-term re-engagement

“Hi [first_name] — it’s been a few months since you reached out about [service]. We have a spring special running. Still interested? Reply YES.”

This is the digital graveyard re-engagement play — aged completed leads who never converted.

Setting Up the Nudge Campaign

1
Export the partial segment from the Leads report
Filter by stage (Started or In Progress) and date range. Export as CSV.
2
Import as a new list — name it specifically
Example: “Partial Leads — Website SmartLink — March 2026.” Specific naming makes the next nudge easier to identify and build on.
3
Create an SMS Campaign to the new list with the nudge message
Use dynamic keywords ({{first_name}}, {{service}}) if the partial data captured those fields. Personalization matters more in nudge messages than any other campaign type.
4
Attach a reply automation collector
YES replies should trigger OTTO qualification. Connect the original collector (or a simplified version) as the reply automation so OTTO handles every YES automatically.
5
Also create a “Replied to Nudge” list for responders
In Campaign Settings → New List to Add Responders to. Anyone who replies to the nudge gets added to this list automatically — tracking who re-engaged vs who didn’t.
Send or schedule — OTTO handles every reply
Review the campaign interaction report after 72 hours. Non-responders can receive a second nudge 7–14 days later with a different angle.
✓ The “Replied to” list — a hidden feature

The “New List to Add Responders to” field in SMS Campaign settings is one of the most underused features in TextingOnly. Every contact who responds to any outbound campaign — nudge or otherwise — gets added to this list automatically. Use it to build a “Highly Engaged” segment over time: contacts who have responded to multiple campaigns are your highest-value re-engagement targets.
