Customer scans QR — OTTO delivers the offer in seconds

QR code on a table tent, window cling, receipt, or POS display. Customer scans with their camera. The native Messages app opens with the opt-in text pre-filled — one tap sends. OTTO responds in under 10 seconds with the offer code, discount, or promotional message. No app download. No loyalty card. No staff involvement. The offer is in their Messages thread.

Table tent · Window cling · Receipt · POS · One tap · Under 10 seconds
02
Opt-in captured — contact added to your owned list

The moment the customer sends the opt-in text, TCPA consent is documented. OTTO can capture their name, preference, or visit context — seamlessly, in the same Messages thread. The contact is added to your SMS list with redemption attribution: which promotion, which placement, which location, which shift. No manual entry. No paper form. No third-party loyalty platform.

TCPA consent documented · Name capture optional · Redemption attributed · Owned list

Owned contact — re-market forever

The customer redeemed a coupon once. Now they’re on your SMS list permanently. OTTO can send Tuesday specials, happy hour alerts, seasonal promotions, or event announcements at any time — to a contact who already knows your brand and consented. The cost of that first coupon built a re-marketable contact worth far more than the offer itself. Every redemption compounds the list.

Permanent re-marketing list · No platform fee · Outbound campaigns · Attribution per contact
Why SMS beats paper coupons and loyalty apps
Paper coupons expire and disappear. SMS contacts compound forever.
📰
Paper coupon

Printed. Distributed. Lost in a pocket. Maybe redeemed. No contact captured. No follow-up possible. No measurement of which offer drove which visit. Cost: printing + distribution. Return: a single discount with zero long-term value.

📲
Loyalty app

Requires a download the customer won’t make. Requires login. Requires the customer to remember to open it. Platform fee per month. Push notification open rates under 5%. You don’t own the list — the platform does.

💬
TextingOnly SMS coupon

QR on a table tent. One scan. Offer delivered via native SMS. Contact captured. TCPA consent documented. Permanent re-marketing list built with every redemption. 98% open rate on every future send. You own the list forever.

The compounding effect
100 coupons redeemed = 100 contacts on your list. 1,000 redeemed = 1,000.

Every coupon redemption is a list-building event. The discount pays for itself the first visit. The contact generates revenue on every future send. Most businesses track coupon redemption rate. TextingOnly tracks customer lifetime value from first SMS opt-in.

Common questions
Questions aboutSMS coupon delivery.
Does the customer need to download anything?
No. The QR code opens the native Messages app already on the customer’s phone. One pre-filled tap sends the opt-in. OTTO delivers the offer code immediately in the same thread. No app download, no account creation, no loyalty card sign-up. The entire experience is in the Messages app the customer already uses every day.
How do I prevent customers from scanning multiple times to get the offer repeatedly?
OTTO tracks opt-ins by phone number. A contact who has already opted in via that QR code can be configured to receive a different response — a “you’re already on the list” message rather than a new offer code. You can also configure the offer code itself to be single-use or time-limited at the POS level, separate from the SMS system.
Is the SMS opt-in TCPA compliant?
Yes. The customer initiates the opt-in themselves by sending the pre-filled text message — this constitutes express written consent under TCPA. TextingOnly documents the consent record: phone number, timestamp, opt-in keyword, and entry source. Every subsequent send includes a compliant opt-out prompt. STOP responses trigger immediate suppression.
Can I track which table, register, or location drove each opt-in?
Yes. Each QR code carries a unique attribution tag. You can have separate QR codes per table section, per register, per location, or per promotional placement — each one reporting independently. The dashboard shows opt-in volume, offer redemption rate, and contact growth per QR source.
What happens after the customer redeems the offer?
They’re on your SMS list permanently. You can send them future promotions, event announcements, seasonal offers, or re-engagement campaigns at any time. The first offer built the contact. Every subsequent send is essentially free marketing to a warm, opted-in audience who already knows your brand.
