Setting Up Language Funnels:
Multilingual SMS Qualification
Without Bilingual Staff
Language Funnels let contacts choose their language path via an interstitial page before the SMS conversation begins — their selection routes them into the matching pre-configured non-English flow. Your team receives English-language lead data regardless of what language the contact used. No bilingual staff required for first-touch qualification.
A Spanish-speaking contact who calls your business and reaches an English-only rep has a bad experience and often hangs up. The same contact who taps your SmartLink gets an instant response in their language, completes a structured qualification flow, and generates a warm English lead record for your team — without any bilingual staff involved.
How Language Funnels Work
Before the SMS conversation begins, an interstitial page presents the contact with language options. The contact selects their language — that selection routes them into the pre-configured flow for that language and segments them into the matching list. The contact sees only the selected language. Your team’s lead alert arrives in English.
Language Selection
The contact selects their language path on an interstitial page before the SMS conversation begins. TextingOnly does not auto-detect language from message content — routing is driven by the contact’s selection, and that selection also segments them into the matching language list for downstream campaigns.
Setup Steps
Language Funnels require a Campaign SMS number (not a 1-to-1 number) with active 10DLC registration. Both the English and Spanish flows must be complete before activating — an incomplete Spanish flow will leave Spanish-speaking contacts without a response.
What Your Team Receives
Regardless of what language the contact used, your team’s email lead alert arrives in English. The lead record includes a “Language: Spanish” flag so the rep knows to expect a Spanish-speaking contact on the callback — but all the qualification data (name, service type, timeline, urgency) is in English.
Include the contact’s language preference in the Prepare Caller message to your team so the right rep or a bilingual team member can handle the follow-up conversation.
Outbound Language Funnel Use
Language Funnels also work for outbound campaigns. If your contact list includes Spanish-speaking contacts, you can segment the list by language preference and send outbound messages in Spanish — with OTTO handling Spanish replies in the Language Funnel automatically. No separate campaign management per language required.
