What is A2P 10DLC?

A2P (application-to-person) 10DLC (10-digit long code) is a standard created by US telecom carriers to ensure that SMS messages sent to US end-users through long-code phone numbers are both legitimate and wanted. Phone numbers are ten digits including area code and the remaining seven digits to complete the total of 10.

Who needs to register?

If you send messages to the United States using long code numbers, you will need to register for a 10DLC brand. The registration options that you have will depend on your tax ID status, volume, and use case.

  • If you have a tax ID (EIN) and send under 6,000 message segments per day, you should re-register for a Low Volume Standard Brand.
  • If you have a tax ID (EIN) and send 6,000 or more message segments per day, you should register for a Standard Brand.
  • If you do not have a tax ID (EIN), you should register for a Sole Proprietor Brand.

To register your business with a carrier, you will need to provide the following information:

  • Your business name and address
  • Your business phone number and business email address
  • Your business tax identification number (EIN)
  • Your state registration information
  • Your certificate of good standing
